Volunteering

Berlin Food Pantry, Inc. welcomes potential new volunteers to serve in a variety of positions.

No prior experience is necessary, basic training will be provided. Please note, the time frames listed with the positions on our website are not a guarantee of availability. These are the times these positions take place but they may be filled already. Potential volunteers must be at least 13 years old to work onsite. Those under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian volunteering alongside them. 

All new volunteers are required to fill out an application and attend an orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator. We can accommodate court ordered and school volunteer requirements within reason and dependent on volunteer following the above process.

We greatly appreciate all the help we can get. 

However, we ask please, that you do not just show up on a day to help, we may have adequate help on that day and may not have work for you.

These are some of our most common volunteer positions. 

Thursday 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM (1st thru 4th Thursday each month)

Donation pickup (requires vehicle like truck or van)

Guide/Shopping Assistant

Registration desk

Push carts and load vehicle

Distribute (load bags of food, eggs, milk, etc. into cart)

Thursday 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (3rd Thursday each month)

Guide/Shopping Assistant

Registration desk

Push carts and load vehicle

Distribute (load bags of food, eggs, milk, etc. into cart)

Monday 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM (1st through 4th Mondays each month)

Prepare Bags for the next days distribution

Required throughout the week

Answer phone (cell registered to BFP)

Maintenance (sweep and wash floor after distribution, empty garbage, wipe down tables and shelves, etc.)

Stock shelves before Wednesday evening bag prep

As needed

Occasional (as needed) pickup of donations or purchased product (requires vehicle like truck or van)

Helper in unloading vehicles hauling donations (Del Monte, food drives, etc.)
